On the 6th, the ‘queen of golf’, Inbee Park(27, KB Finance Group) finally opened up on the ‘Grand Slam’ controversy. The LPGA declared Inbee Park’s feet of winning 4 majors as career grand slam, while AP and other press claims that she needs to win the remaining 1 tournament to say that she achieved grand slam. A day before participating in the KLPGA Korea Women’s Golf Tour, Jeju Samdasoo Masters on the 7th at Jeju Ora C..C., Inbee Park held a press conference to say “I wanted to talk about the issue as well, I believe all players has to be treated fairly. When I started playing golf they had 4 majors which I have won all of them. If that is not a grand slam, and I need to win 5, what happens to those who achieved grand slam by only wining 4 majors? Do they have to win the Evian Championship just like I do? If Paula Creamer, Michelle Wie, Stacy Lewis won 4 majors, they would be considered grand slammers.” On her attitude towards the Evian Championship, she said, “Evian trophy is not my goal. For the first time, I would like to tell you that my goal is to write my name in history by being inducted to the World Golf Hall of Fame and LPGA Hall of Fame. To have my name remembered to golfers even after my death is the reason why I started playing golf.”
